Windchime, Cross Stitch Kits, Yarns

What do they have in common, you're asking.... Well, not much but they are stuffs for my crafting pleasures.

Saw this DIY windchime kit at Daiso. I thought it was pretty interesting, and since it's just 2 bucks (yeah, I'm a sucker for spending such $$), the kit's mine in no time. LOL..

What the kit contained was 2 thin pieces of wood with pattern imprinted (and roughly punched) onto it, a small reel of string and 2 pieces of sand paper . What I needed to do was to push the punched pattern out of the wood, sand them to a smooth finish and color them with the colors I love. After the paint had dried, I strung the pieces according to the instructions (not really easy coz the string was so flimsy! ==).

I'd painted the wood pieces with (limited) acrylic colors and dried them. I then coated them with another layer of silver acrylic paint and dabbed the paint off while it's still wet to leave a thin smudgy layer of silver color. After which, I coated the pieces with high gloss varnish( meant for polymer clay... haha)

Close up...

On the same day I bought the DIY windchime kit, I also bought a cross-stitch kit from Spotlight.

No no, the one I bought that day was the middle one which I'm currently working on. The others were bought much earlier... Need to start on the one with the Japanese lady soon...

Remember in my previous post, I went to Ondori and that auntie recommended me 2 craft stores? Went to the one at Bukit Batok that evening to check it out. The shop area was quite small and the selection of yarn wasn't a lot. I guess the auntie recommended the store because the owner of the Bukit Batok shop provides free lessons if you purchase yarns from her, and she does have a lot of pattern books kept at the counter, from which you can choose a pattern you like. Despite the not-very-big selection of yarn, I bought 2 balls of Jaeger Siena (100% mercerized cotton yarn) in my favorite pink color. (I must admit I quite like the colors/colorway of the yarns there..)

An artistic shot.. Yah, I'm using that "putting a magnifying glass in front of my camera" technique again.. The macro mode in my old Canon digi cam can't really make it.. Need to invest in a big piece of white paper in future... If you look carefully, I actually lined my table with many pieces of white A4 sized papers... == And luckily, my table lights are bright enough!

And lastly, some eye candy for you all:

Yeah, I'm crazy.. Had used the same "technique" to take this picture.. LOL.. I did increase the contrast a bit in photoshop though.

Oh yah... I can add my credit card into Paypal already.. Looks like I've typed my expiry date of my card wrongly.. Ooops, my bad.. =( And thanks to the U*B staff who called me earlier today for being so patient and helpful! (I know I had bad experiences with the bank, but this lady staff is very kind and helpful.)
