Weekly Color #18: Magical Flower?

We've been spotting lots of interesting flowers and plants recently at our nearby park! And here's one of them!

Have no idea what plant it belongs to, but it sure looks magical enough..!

Loving the color scheme for this one!

Weekly Color #17: Colors of Upcycling

I had the pleasure in assisting Agatha from Green Issues by Agy with her 4-session upcycling workshop at a secondary school. In our last session, we got the students to upcycle some bottle and jar caps into charms and magnets.

Weekly Color Theme #16: Donna Wilson

A little bit of throw-back..

Went to the Donna Wilson exhibition and pop-up store a while back and I was blown away by her colorful and quirky creations!

Weekly Color Theme #15: Dreams?

They are like fluffy white clouds.
Beautiful. Sometimes growing. Sometimes fleeting.
It does not matter,
Even if we have become shriveled,
We still reach out for them.

Weekly Color Theme #14: Egg Dish?

A while ago, we brought our puppy to its first grooming session. While the pup was having its spa time, Ed and I (plus Ed's sis) decided to hang out at a nearby cafe for lunch. I ordered this pretty delicious egg tomato dish..

This is the color combination that the Adobe Color app generated...

Which isn't the best color combo out there...

The odd thing was the app decided to give me another combination the second time I tried (both using the 'colorful' option)...

Um.. Slightly more palatable?

Weekly Color Theme #13 - Painted Stairway

Recently, I attended the "Etsy Meets Singapore" event which was held at a place located along the road where my previous workplace used to be. Sadly, the shop-house was sold and our office had to be shifted elsewhere.

The shop-house is now a chic indie-looking eating place called Potato Head Folk. Doors that led to individual units were torn down to make way for wide entrances to different eating areas. What used to be just a plain old concrete stairway is now dressed in painted prints..

Weekly Color Theme #11: Pink Skies

The past week seems to mark the end of the warm and humid spell with sudden onslaughts of afternoon torrential rains and rather cooling nights.

Weekly Color theme #10: Warming

It's been a ridiculously warm and humid month for us here. So much so that even the trees seem to be suffering too.

Weekly Color Theme #9: The Little Teddy Bear

And we just got a new puppy!

Photo taken by the hubby

Akiko's a feisty barely 10 week old puppy and she's a little confused with her potty training.. Whatever it is, she is still our little teddy bear~~

Weekly Color Theme #8: Silver linings

And the sun still shines
Silver linings
Skirting every possible cloud

Weekly Color Theme #7: Mourning Skies

We just bade our last farewell to our founding father. The skies poured while the state funeral procession was going on. As the heavens weep with us for our loss, may we shed all our differences and continue to stand tall~

Weekly Color Theme #6: Yarn Frenzy

After meddling with the Adobe Kuler app for a while, I finally figured how to take a combination of photo + kuler color scheme at the same time. All I needed to do was switch the tab to "Photo" instead of "Live". It is also possible to pull an image out of your camera roll. An added feature which I hadn't noticed before was the ability to customize your own color palette by dragging each of the 5 tiny circles around the photo to the color that you want. Cool!

This past 2 weeks have sort of been a knitting/crocheting frenzy for me. Knitting gifts for friends and making scarves for charity.. I thought it would be interesting to customize my own color theme based on the 2 scarves I'm currently making now!

Weekly Color Theme #5: Chilling, Marbled Cafe Table

There's this local-style cafe near my place which I like to frequent. It's not fancy, but it serves pretty good local dishes and half-boiled eggs. And while I was there for lunch this week, I happened to notice that some of their tables are actually non-wooden and they have a marbly effect of different browns..

Weekly Color Theme #4 - Evening Neighborhood Cobbled Roads

While most of the roads here are tarred, the small lanes connecting the different blocks within my neighborhood are cobbled with tiles. In the evening, the reddish cobbled roads would pretty much turn a nice purplish hue from the ambient evening lights.

Weekly Color Theme #3 - Late Afternoon Concrete Pathway

Not quite evening, and yet not quite the colors of bright early afternoon. The boring little concrete pathway may be dull and gray, but yet, it harbors different moods at different times of the day.

Weekly Color Theme #2 - Stuffed with Chinese New Year Goodies

We're just into the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year as I am writing this post!

It's a little scary because we seem to be reliving the oh-my-tummy-is-going-to-explode episodes. Not that it's a bad thing since Chinese New Year dishes and goodies are always so yummy (and mostly unhealthy...)!

Anyways, I decided to snap a Kuler "photo" of the snacks and goodies at my mum's place before digging into the box of melon tarts..

Looks like Chinese New Year goodies don't translate well into palatable colors...

Weekly Color Theme #1: Valentine's + Chinese New Year

I have the Adobe Kuler app for some months now and I thought it would be fun to share my color theme weekly generated by this app. What the app does is it calculates the best color combination from the photo that you take with the application. Pretty cool! The only couple of things I wish it could do is to store the original photo that I have taken and providing the hex code of each colors.

To start off this week's color theme, I had taken a photo of some Chinese red packets and a pair scissors (since I'll be crafting with them) with a wooden background. Here's the color theme that the app came up with:

To me, that screams "Valentine's" more than anything else....

Oh yes, I'll have a couple of new tutorials coming up, so stay tuned!
