Stockholm Cowl

A little bit of recap. Before the Finland trip, not only did I knit my Icy Tenney Park sweater, I also casted on the Stockholm cowl which you can read from my post here. After which, there seemed to be no news about the cowl. But fear not, the lucky warmth-giver escaped my pile of UFOs and was in fact completed and made to good use during my aurora-seeking sessions. In fact, it was my savior! Without which, my ears would have frozen and dropped off from the extreme Finnish cold. :P

How I actually wore it at Finland... My ears were protected this way. :)

Pattern: Stockholm Cowl
Yarn: Supa Yarn 100% Wool
Needle size: 5mm

Icy Tenney Park

I requested XB to take a photo of me in my Icy Tenney Park when we're at Finland. The whole snowy background was breathtaking but what's up with my weird face???? D: (I think I might take another photo again??)

Pattern: Tenney Park
Yarn: Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi in colorway Seafoam, Sublime Yarns Baby Cashmere Merino Silk 4ply in colorway 0100
Needle Size: 2.25mm, 3.25mm
Notes: I converted 3/4 sleeves to full long sleeves. I also lengthened the bodice a bit and attached the entrelac piece a little lower than the original.

Another procrastinator's pride! My Summer (Spring) dress!

Okay. It said "Beautiful Spring Day Dress" in Keito Dama, but that doesn't sound right for a sleeveless dress....

Photobucket

I finally got a proper basic slip (all the way from New Zealand!) that can go with most dresses, and now you can see how the dress look on me. Sheeze.. I look kinda retarded in that pose..... == Anyway, I'm loving the dress more now that I realize it looks good with a simple belt!

Pattern: Keito Dama, No. 133 Spring 2007, Beautiful spring day dress
Needle Size: I think I used a 3mm or 3.5mm....
Yarn: Seaqueen Cotton Clear
Notes: Yeah, if you compare the dress with the original, you will be able to tell the differences.. Sleeveless and gathered at some areas..

Photobucket

Procrastinator's pride. My n.erdy razor tank top!

Photobucket

This was a WIP that almost went to the zzz pile of projects.. Thanks to my mum who finally completed my last bit of crochet edging. If not, this will forever be stuck at being 98% done. That's how great a procrastinator I am! HAHAHA...

Pattern: Razor Cami
Needle size: Forgotten..
Yarn: Forgotten..
Skeins: Forgotten..
Notes: The one thing I didn't forget is that I changed the simple straps into a v-neck and I actually winged it! Kudos for being such a risk-taker when I was still a "green horn"!

Baby Kimono Vest

Photobucket

Yarn: Sirdar Flirt
No. of balls: 5 - 6
Note: If I were to do this again, I would use another type of yarn that knits up with more structure and less drape. Even though I blocked it, the drapiness still makes the vest lose some of its structure.

WIP status..

Finally finished knitting the baby kimono vest! It's now under blocking, and after it's dried, I have to sew on some plastic fasteners to secure the collar area..

WIP still ongoing..

Lol.. Guess I've badly underestimated the time needed for the Baby kimono sweater..

Photobucket

It's still far from being done, as you can see from the photo.. It's still lacking part of the top and the sleeves.. And it badly needs a wash and a blocking.. I just hope I've enough yarn to finish everything! Perhaps I should just keep it as a vest or shorten the sleeves...

Fall Dress

Pattern: Adapted from 2 Drops Design Patterns (a)this and (b)this
Yarn: Rowan Wool Cotton
Needle: 4.5mm, 4mm
Notes: Finally finished this! Casted on 304 stitches in the round, and worked straight in the lace pattern for (b). I created the gathers at the waistline by using the cable decrease technique. I then continue with the bodice based on pattern (a) with the stitch count for the second sizing. Screwed up a bit at the fair isle portion, but luckily the mistake was at the beginning of a pattern row, so the pattern still looks correct on it's own. I managed to get back on track for the next pattern group. I stopped the fair isle after the 4-sided stars, after which I ended the piece with ribbing for the neckline. (I looked kinda fat in the photo.. ><)

Knitting matters

I'm currently onto a new knitting project.. And I'm practically trying to mix and match designs and patterns to get the look of a fall dress that I want. *Fingers crossed*

Am now more than halfway through the skirt part.

Beautiful Spring Day - a preview of the sleeveless spring dress

Yep, I need a nicer slip for this spring dress (If you recall this post...) before the actual "photo shoot".. And yeah, I did complete it some hours before my friend's customary wedding (which I had to be present at 6.30am in the morning..)

But anyway, here's a preview of the final dress..

And a close-up of the lace pattern:

I'd decided to leave the sleeves out, partly because I didn't have the time to complete them (managed to only knit one sleeve... It's still around in my craft shelf... lol) and partly because I kind of looked better without them... Yup, I did sew that one sleeve as shown below, before I decided to remove it..

And as you can see, my dress has undergone some changes due to the crazy stretch that the yarn and gravity did to my dress... Had to do some funky gathering to make it hang more properly on me...

Beautiful Spring Day - WIP

In the process of doing this (knitting)project from a past issue of Keito Dama:

I've only knitted one of the bottom big panel, and it's currently under blocking.

Winter scarfie for XB..

Pattern: One Row Handspun Scarf
Yarn: Sirdar Click Aran with Wool
Needle size: 5mm
Notes: The color of the wool could have been nicer... But oh well, I was going for neutral earth-tone color..

Jump Jump... My Kangaroo Tunic

Photobucket
My messy bed.. LOL.. This is called character, yeah?

Pattern: Kangaroo Tunic By Wenlan Chia
Yarn: 9 skeins of Sirdar Big Softie (441.0 yards)
Needle Size: 10mm
Pattern notes:
Used the pattern for large to get gauge for XS size (No. of stitches casted on) Re-calculated the no. of rows needed.

Lesson learnt: Do not knit when you're feeling sleepy... Even if the stitches are simple.. I accidentally dropped a stitch when joining the pocket to the body and I didn't realise it until at the end when I was doing the ribbings... I also shouldn't have used the knit and weave method when joining another skein of yarn at the collar... =\

Short cape with hood

OHHH YEEAAHHH!

Finally! A finished knitted project for the year... == Which is like.. Miserable. Anyway on with a couple of photos..

No front shot of me coz my home clothes don't match the cute cape!...

Anyway, this cape isn't for me. It's an early birthday gift for xzz... Hopefully, she gets to use it during the Tokyo trip. But I'm a little dissatisfied with the hood. The way used by the book to do increases created holes... Sigh.. Should have used another way of increasing.. But anyway, it looks cute on the whole.. Too bad I don't have the time to block the cape..

Pattern: Short cape with hood (フードつきのショートケープ)
Book: 今編んで着たいニット (Ima Ande Kitai Nitto)
Needle size: 10mm
Yarn: Sirdar Big Softie
No. of balls: About 4.5
Note: There must be something wrong with my eyes... Instead of doing a 3-stitch wide garter border, I did a 2-stitch wide one.. I've used normal long-tail cast-on instead of the cast-on recommended by the book (using waste yarn to knit the first few rows, then start knitting the piece. After finishing knitting the garment, remove the waste yarn, and insert knitting needle through the loops and do a normal bind-off... I've forgotten what the name of this cast-on is called...) I've used 3-needle bind-off to finish off the hood instead of using a tapestry needle (that's big enough.... I don't have one!) to sew the ends together.

A constructive night!

Did some knitting and beading yesterday night while watching my fave CSI and Bones!

Finally finished the back and left panel of the leafy lace cardigan, and am now on my right panel. =)

As you can see, I've modified the pattern quite a bit...

A close-up of the lace... The pieces need a serious blocking before I can seam them together!

As for beading, I'd bought a simple ring kit from spotlight (for only 4 bucks!). The end result turned out kinda cute! ^.^ Will consider other pattern kits.. hahaha

A big close-up! (I've used 2 magnifying glasses for this.....)

Oh, I'd bought another Miyuki necklace kit from Golden Dragon too.. Will be making 2 necklaces soon.. Shall see which match the jie3 mei4 dress better..

p.s. Just wanna add that the Beethovan's Pathetique 2nd Movement that's played on a harp for the wedding scene in Bones is so so so so beautiful!!.... T.T
