New Print for Sale! And Throwback to Day 29 of Creativebug Draw a Day Challenge (January)

This illustration was meant for the Day 29 prompt for the Creativebug Draw a Day challenge (January), and that was 'Sunshine'; as well as for the Day 3 prompt for Instafriends Draw a Week, which was spaceship.

A fellow Instagrammer had requested for a print of this. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise that my master/dominant hand had a really bad reaction to tea tree oil over the weekend... My existing eczema started to flare up really badly, and I had to make a trip down to the doc and got some antibiotics & ointments. I couldn't use my dominant hand for the time being (still healing as of now), so I thought it's a good time to convert the illustration into a print since I didn't have to use much of my dominant hand while doing things digitally.

And now, it's up for sale at my Etsy shop! This print comes with an option for paper upgrade. So if you are interested in the print too, hop on over to my shop!

New Christmas Card (Etsy Update)

Hi all~!

Time flies, doesn't it? It will be Christmas in just less than a month's time!

This year, I decided to design something more cheery and in color, something to brighten up what has mostly been a grim year for humanity.

This card features Rudolph, our well-loved reindeer and a little girl whom Rudolph has met while roaming in the woods. This card also comes with multiple sentiments which you can choose to stick on your card. Feel free to create your own sentiments though!

Hop on to my shop to purchase this card!

A Couple of New Items in the Shop

First up is an instant download! Father's Day is coming very soon this weekend, so if you need a last minute but cool-looking card, you might want to get this card + envelope + envelope liner combo that I had designed.

This set will look best if printed on kraft cardstock and paper. Besides Father's Day, this card also makes a good general birthday/gift card for Dads. =)

I still have a couple more card sets still in the process of designing which will be suitable for Father's Day. I just hope they will be up in time for people to buy, print and gift.

Next up in the shop is a pack of Paper Boat in Bottle button shanks.

I think they will go very well on outfits or accessories that are nautical themed. Also perfect for adorning scrapbooking pages or handmade cards that are of similar themes.

Do take a look!

Yarn Bombing, Crafty Partying and Some Computer Break Down in Between

Hola and a Konnichiwa~

Amidst the frantic search for a new laptop after the total abrupt death of my 6-year-old one, I had been busy with yarn bombing and some craft partying.

I had posted in an earlier post about some of the squares that I'd made. Here are all my squares laid out!

The yarn bombing session was held at our local Science Center and our target was the Apatosaurus dinosaur at the entrance. Objective was to join the squares to form a long enough scarf to wrap round the neck of the dinosaur.. Yes, even in this (warmer than usual) tropical heat. =D

Busy joining the colorful squares

A section of the scarf that we've joined

Keeping the dinosaur even warmer. hee.

Pranking on the T-rex isn't a very good idea...

Almost immediately after the yarn bombing project, I had to jump into prepping for the next event. 6th June was a special day for Etsy members around the world when we would all celebrate crafting in our very own local Etsy Craft Parties. The craft party here in Singapore was organized by the lovely sisters from SimplyForLove and they had kindly invited me to join. AND, I was excited enough to help.

All the volunteers are also Etsy sellers, so each of us had to represent our shops and contribute something to the goodie bags.. After some contemplating, I thought I should make something that could be done in a big batch at once... Like screenprinting my calico fabric to make 50-worth of fabric-covered buttons and then hand-drawing on each and every one of them..... I know... That's not exactly batch-making..

Made 50 of these!

The backings for the buttons were handmade too.. They were all hand-punched and then free-handed with herringbone designs. I also designed and printed postcards to go with the buttons.

It took some time but I had fun packing these! (Photo by SimplyForLove)

We were expecting some reporters from various media as well, and each seller was requested to provide some sort of media kit. I already had an idea of the concept I wanted, so designing the booklets was quite a breeze. The only hard part was the cutting and assembling..

More about these booklets in another post!

We had 4 different craft stations at the craft party itself.

There's the Mod Podge Photo on Wood station, Stamping with Rubber Stamps station, Embroidery on Photo station and Photo Transfer on Wood station. I was placed at the Mod Podge station to help out. I am not exactly an expert at Mod Podge, considering my experience extends to only prepping and sealing items before using them with resin.... But it was fun and I also learnt the do's and don'ts in the process of teaching.

Crafting in progress. (Love the dress!)

Managed to grab some yummies!

Lots of rubber stamps! All hand-carved by the talented Jo from Lovesprouts!

And finally all of us took a big group photo to commemorate this special day of crafting!

Job well done to SimplyForLove and the rest of us volunteers =)

Phew! This is a really long post! ... And ... I just realized that I missed the deadline for the Sewing Indie Month challenge.... And I've not even started! D: (I've chosen and bought the pattern though..) I guess I'll still proceed with the challenge (for myself) but with an indefinite deadline... LOL?

Something New in the Shop!

Hi peeps!

I have listed the necklaces I have made so far for the Braids x Knots collection. Please have a look! =)

Updates x Updates x Updates

I can't believe it. 20 days of non-blogging! But if you have been following my Facebook page or my instagram, you know I have been busy. =)

First up, I have completed quite a number of necklaces (Braids x Knots collection) which will be listed in my Etsy shop next week.

As well as designing the boxes for the necklaces.

Then, I have been designing and making prototypes of new necklaces that would eventually be make-to-order items in my shop.

And finally, I'm in the process of DIY-ing a tiered display stand! This is something that I have been wanting to do for years! Here's a look at the first tier. =) The glass cup in the first tier was filled with white and green pebbles and frosted glass balls.

For the second tier, the glass cup contents will be fancier. I'm planning to have a resin layer, a knitted/crochet layer, some "airy" space and a top layer. Mysterious much? :) I have documented my process for the first part of this project and will be continuing so for the second part. So if you are interested in making one yourself, stay tuned for the work-in-progress post!

Ciaoz!

Happy White Day in Advance! A Mini Etsy Shop Update

I have finally listed the 3 new button pins! In time for another day similar to Valentine's day! White Day is a very special day in Japan and a few other Asian countries, falling 1 month after Valentine's day on the 14th of March. It is the day when guys will return the favor (preferably white color) to the girls whom they received home-made treats from previously on Valentine's day.

These button pins have a soft ombre background effect with a whitish-pink tone. Perfect for the "white" concept for White Day!

The first pin is named White Romance:

This pin has the whitest undertone out of the 3 designs. It has a mini white heart, made from polymer clay, gold leaf flakes and gold-plated bits embedded in it. I also used a gold-plated ball chain to run through the button holes, increasing the look of elegance. To get this pin, click here! (There's a small bit of lint that managed to get its way into the resin. As such, I am selling this at a discounted rate.)

The next pin is Flutter:

Flutter has 2 lace cut-outs that look almost like a pair of wings. The "splatter" of gold leaf flakes and gold micro beads almost makes it look like the wings are in flight. To grab this pin, click here!

And last but not least, the 3rd pin is Fleur:

Fleur has a glittery background with a floral lace cut-out, 2 polymer clay mini hearts and gold-plated bits embedded in it. The pin shimmers beautifully when hit by light at certain angles. To get this pin, click here!

Work In Progress Pieces

Hi all, it's been a while since I have updated anything. Sumimasen (sorry) ! *deep bow*

Lost a little bit of steam during this Chinese New Year and I guess I need to get my crafting/making/blogging mojo back ASAP!

Well, I did complete a few resin pieces before the CNY and here are 3 new button pins that I had made.

Intended to list these last week (in time to be shipped to destinations before the upcoming Valentine's day) but... *Cough* the decision to update my button pins packaging got a little jammed in my thought process. Anyway, I will list them once I have finalized the packaging design, hopefully by end of this week.

The next stuffs that are already in the process of being made are part of my Braids & Knots necklaces collection (which I had hoped to roll out by end of Jan.. Gah! I think I need to give myself a more realistic deadline for everything.. *Facepalm*)

I actually made the turquoise version and a dark blue version for my one-day stint at the Christmas Public Garden last December. Many took an interest in them  (I sold out the turquoise one) and requested for other colors. So here they are, a total of 4 colors.

For now, I only have 2 of each color. I am running out of the end caps and the shop which I bought the end caps from has not been stocking up! I am trying other sources, but I could not, for the life of me, find one that sells these specific silver end caps..

I guess I might eventually switch to the 16k gold-plated ones which I managed to find online. Hopefully by then, I will be able to provide made-to-orders for these necklaces!

I still have a few more designs for the necklace collection and also the Almost-a-cube coin pouches to get busy with!

Till my next post! =)

Preview of New Sewist Grab Bags!

Hi all, happy 2014!

In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that I would be listing some grab bags to my Etsy shop after Christmas. Alas, things didn't go according to my schedule and I only got to start sewing and packing everything after New Year.

For the past 1 week, I have been busy (amidst some procrastination, as usual) slicing fabrics into fat quarters, making mini sewing kits, sewing and screenprinting the grab bags and packing everything into each bag.

Mini sewing kits

My screenprint stencils

The "New Sewist" bags!

So.. Just what are these New Sewist grab bags?

Each grab bag is a hand-sewn and screenprinted drawstring bag, which includes a variety of fabric pieces, some handmade buttons, a small sewing kit and a small pack of trims and notions. Perfect for the new or beginner sewists who have no specific projects in mind but just want to delve into some sewing.

The grab bags will be listed in my shop tomorrow so stay tuned for a full post on the grab bags!

Custom Made Orders & Remaking Sold Out Items

Hi peeps! Just to inform you guys that I accept custom made orders. Depending on the item, I will take from about 2 days to a week (excluding weekends) to make the item before shipping it out.

For items in the shop that are sold out, it is possible for me to remake them. But for one-of-a-kind items, due to their nature (and also the limited amount of that material I have), the remake will be something similar but not identical. Also, in the event that I need to reorder materials, it might take much longer than 1 week before I can ship the remake out.

The following 2 pins were just sold out from my shop (not reflected in the shop coz it's not paid via paypal..):

Please give me a convo if you wish to have me remake any of these. =)
